If you have been following the economic headlines, you will have seen a lot of talk about “recession”. That's become ever more frequent recently as many analysts are saying that it cannot be avoided.
However, a more pressing question should be whether we are actually already in one?!
That's because in the first quarter of this year, we had negative GDP growth in the US. And, more recently the Atlanta Fed released projects from its GDPNow model which showed that the US could have another contraction in Q2.
What this would mean is that the US is technically in a recession and that could have massive implications for interest rate policy over the next year.
In my video today, I look at some of the most important economic indicators and analyse what they say about the current state of the US economy. Everything from consumer confidence to retail sales, manufacturing to housing. I also analyse the impact that Fed policy is likely to have on the economy and what exactly we could have in store.
