Some of you might remember all the Saudi memes that were floating around when the crypto market was crashing. They joked that the crypto market would be saved by Saudis going all in on BTC with infinite resources. This got me thinking about Saudi and crypto.
As it so happens, Saudi seems to be on the brink of legalizing cryptocurrency. This is because the Saudi central bank hired a crypto expert earlier this year to help it with crypto policy. The Saudi central bank had initially restricted crypto investing in 2018.
During my research, I came across that crazy megacity the country is building. The part you've probably heard about is ‘The Line', a 170km skyscraper that will house up to 9 million people. This is just one part of the Neom city project, and crypto could be involved.
